{"id":143,"date":"2004-02-10T08:17:00","date_gmt":"2004-02-10T08:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jclark.org\/weblog\/WebDev\/Browsers\/cssredefined.html"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"cssredefined","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jclark.org\/weblog\/2004\/02\/10\/cssredefined\/","title":{"rendered":"CSS Development, Redefined"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the taglines currently being used by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/products\/firefox\/\">Mozilla Firefox<\/a> project is &#8220;Web Browsing Redefined.&#8221;  Today I stumbled onto a Firefox extension which redefines <span class=\"caps\">CSS<\/span> development.  <a href=\"http:\/\/editcss.mozdev.org\">Editcss<\/a> allows you to edit the <span class=\"caps\">CSS<\/span> for a web page in real time, and see the results rendered in real time.  It&#8217;s a simple concept, but an absolutely amazing experience to use it for the first time.  I can&#8217;t wait until my next redesign or side project to really put this thing through its paces.<\/p>\n<p>The editing pane shows up in the sidebar, the same place the history window appears.  This turns out to be a good orientation, since most <span class=\"caps\">CSS<\/span> files are long lists of short rules.  The extension combines mulitple <span class=\"caps\">CSS<\/span> files in the order they are processed, commenting each section with its origin (embedded, link, include).
