As part of my recent, er, sabatical from blogging, I completely missed my blog&#8217;s first Birthday.  <a href=\"http:\/\/jclark.org\/weblog\/Miscellany\/About\/firstpost.html\">My first post<\/a> was on Aug 14, 2003.  Happy belated Birthday, Blog o&#8217; mine.<\/p>\n<p>The last couple of nearly-blogging-free months notwithstanding, I guess it&#8217;s been a good a first year.  Nearly 175 posts in the first year.  My current design may never win any awards, but it beats <a href=\"http:\/\/jclark.org\/weblog\/index.rev0\">the original<\/a>, and its <a href=\"http:\/\/jclark.org\/weblog\/index.rev1\">successor<\/a>.  Along the way, I&#8217;ve added a few alternate stylesheets, upgraded my feed to RSS2.0, got everything (usually) to validate (<a href=\"http:\/\/validator.w3.org\/check\/referer\">html<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/jigsaw.w3.org\/css-validator\/check\/referer\">css<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/feedvalidator.org\/check?url=http:\/\/jclark.org\/weblog\/index.rss\">rss<\/a>).  I switched from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.textism.com\/tools\/textile\/\">Textile<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/daringfireball.net\/projects\/markdown\/\">Markdown<\/a>, added comments, added Markdown to my comments, and fought comment spammers. Most recently, I finally added a blogroll.  I&#8217;ve made some <a href=\"http:\/\/fletcher.freeshell.org\/\">new<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/sp.ookee.com\/\">friends<\/a> and linked to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rivinus.com\/\">long time friends<\/a>.  Hopefully I&#8217;ve even managed to help people here and there &#8211; I&#8217;m (currently) still the top Google hit for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?hl=en&amp;lr=&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=xemacs+fink+panther&amp;btnG=Search\">&#8220;xemacs fink panther&#8221;<\/a>, and my <a href=\"http:\/\/jclark.org\/weblog\/WebDev\/Blosxom\/plugins\/moreentries\">moreentries plugin<\/a> for Blosxom has been used by a few people.  <\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s to another year.
